DELE B2 certifies upper-intermediate Spanish — the CEFR's independent-user upper level. The exam has 4 pruebas in 2 groups: Group 1 pairs Comprensión de lectura with Expresión e interacción escritas, Group 2 pairs Comprensión auditiva with Expresión e interacción orales. Each group is scored out of 50 and you need at least 30/50 in both to be declared Apto. Unlike IELTS or TOEFL scores, the diploma never expires — official proof of your Spanish for university admission, residency and nationality paths, and professional registration — each institution and authority sets its own acceptance rules — earned once.

What score do I need to pass DELE B2?
The four pruebas are scored in two groups of 50 points each — Group 1 is lectura + escritas, Group 2 is auditiva + orales. You need at least 30/50 in BOTH groups. The result is simply Apto (pass) or No apto: there is no band to chase, only the bar to clear in every skill.
Does the DELE diploma expire?
No — the DELE diploma is valid for life. Unlike IELTS or TOEFL scores that lapse after two years, you earn DELE B2 once and it stays on your CV forever. That permanence is one of the strongest reasons candidates choose it.
What are the four DELE B2 pruebas?
Comprensión de lectura (reading), Expresión e interacción escritas (writing), Comprensión auditiva (listening) and Expresión e interacción orales (speaking). Reading and writing form Group 1; listening and speaking form Group 2 — and both groups must reach 30/50.
What is DELE B2 accepted for?
DELE is the Instituto Cervantes' official certification of Spanish. B2 is widely used for university admission in Spain and Latin America, for residency and nationality paths, and for professional registration — anywhere official proof of Spanish is required.
How hard is B2? What does the level mean?
B2 is the CEFR's upper independent-user level: you can argue a point, follow native-speed conversation and write structured formal texts. It is the level most institutions treat as "operational Spanish" — demanding, but very trainable with daily practice across all four skills.
