The DELE B2 fee is not one global price. The Instituto Cervantes sets it by level and by the country where you register, and your registration then follows the rules of the centre you choose. What DELE B2 costs
The Instituto Cervantes price page says the registration price depends on the level of the diploma and on the country in which you register. It publishes one official table for 2026, with a row for each country and the currency that country's price is set in (usually, but not always, the local currency). The table notes that prices are approved in the local currency and that, depending on the country, other currencies may be accepted.

For any other country, open the official table, find your country's row and read the fourth price column, which is B2. The school versions of DELE share columns with A1, B1 and C1 in that table; if you are registering a school-age candidate, confirm the price with the centre.
What the fee covers
Under the DELE registration terms, the fee includes the right to sit the exam on the date and at the centre you chose, and the cost of issuing the diploma. A results review is charged separately (see below).
Prices change between cycles
Instituto Cervantes publishes a price table for each registration cycle and replaces it when the next cycle opens. Before you pay, check the official price page for the table that covers the session you are booking rather than the one you saw last time.
Where and how to register
There are two routes, and which one applies depends on where you will sit the exam.
Sitting DELE in Spain
For candidates in Spain (all levels except the school versions), registration and payment happen online. You create a user account on the Instituto Cervantes exams portal, open your private area, fill in the registration form and pay by card; the official FAQ names Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. The exams portal currently also shows a notice sending anyone who wants to register for DELE to the Instituto Cervantes online shop.
Sitting DELE in India or anywhere else outside Spain
Outside Spain you register with an exam centre recognised by the Instituto Cervantes. The official centre finder lets you search by country, region, session and level. Cervantes says DELE is run at its own centres and at a network of more than 1,000 exam centres in more than 100 countries, and it warns that not every centre examines in every session. Pick the session first, then check that a nearby centre runs B2 on that date.
How you pay abroad is set by the centre. The registration terms list cash, cheque, bank transfer and other methods as options the centre may use. If you cannot register in person, the registration page says you can send the official 2026 DELE registration form to the centre with your payment.
Who can register
DELE is open to anyone who pays the fee, whatever their nationality. The general exams are aimed at adults from 16 upwards, though literate candidates of all ages are accepted. Parents or legal guardians must register minors, and each candidate needs their own email address.
Documents and details to get right
The terms require your name, surname, document number, date of birth and place of birth to match the passport or official photo identity document you present.
- At registration at an exam centre - the completed registration form, the original and a photocopy of your passport or official photo ID showing your name, nationality and place and date of birth, and proof of payment.
- Email - a personal address that you check. Cervantes and your centre send everything there.
- On exam day - the registration receipt, the same original passport or official photo ID you registered with (EU citizens may use their original national identity card instead), and the official exam notice (the convocatoria) your centre sends with the venue, date and times.
The deadline rule for B2
Every DELE session has its own registration closing date, several weeks before the written exam. The terms are strict: once a session's registration period has closed, registration is not permitted under any circumstances.
Instituto Cervantes publishes every session's exam date and its closing date on the official calendar, and B2 is not offered at every session in the year. Find the session you want on that calendar, note its closing date, and register well ahead of it: the deadline is the one part of this process with no discretion in it.
Refunds, cancellations and changes
The 14-day refund window
As a general rule you have 14 calendar days from the date of registration to ask for your money back. If you are sitting in Spain, you use the contact form on the exams portal and choose the refund option; anywhere else, you ask your exam centre. After those 14 days the terms say you lose the right to a refund.
The terms list a few exceptions where a full refund is still possible:
- the exams are cancelled for force majeure, such as a natural disaster or state of emergency;
- you cannot sit because of a fault on the exam centre's side;
- a results review or complaint you had already started for an earlier session of the same level is decided in your favour (you pass) before your new session - request within one month of being told the outcome.
In both of the first two cases you can ask for a full refund or a move to a later session that is open and has places, in writing, within one month of the written exam date.
If you simply do not turn up, you get no refund and cannot move your fee to another session, except in the force-majeure and centre-fault cases above.
Changing session, level or centre
A change is possible only while registration is still open for both your original session and the new one, and the new session has places. Changes are free to process, but if the new exam costs more you pay the difference; if it costs less, the difference is not refunded. At exam centres, the terms say you cannot move to a different centre once registration is complete. A change does not restart the 14-day refund window.
Candidates with special needs
The Instituto Cervantes adapts the exam for candidates with visual, hearing or mobility disabilities (temporary or permanent), learning difficulties such as dyslexia or dysgraphia, and some other circumstances listed on its candidate page.
- How - send the official request form and supporting evidence to your exam centre. The centre assesses what it can offer and passes the request to the Instituto Cervantes, which decides; the centre then tells you the outcome.
- When - at least two weeks before the written exam date. If you miss that, you lose the right to sit under special conditions.
- If it cannot be arranged - you may cancel and get a refund, provided you ask within 72 hours of being told.
Results, review and the diploma
The results page says DELE results are available about two months after the written exams, or about three months for the May and November sessions. Cervantes emails you when they are published, and you read them in your private area on the exams portal. The certificate of results is signed electronically and carries a secure verification code. It shows one of four outcomes: APTO (pass), NO APTO (fail), NO PRESENTADO (did not attend) or NO CALIFICADO (not graded). A paper you pass is not carried over to a later session. If you disagree with your result, you can submit one review request within one month, using the form in your private area. The results page puts the review charge at 60% of the exam price before discounts, paid in euros when you apply, and refunds it if your result changes from NO APTO to APTO. Cervantes says it sends its final decision within three months of the review window closing.
If you pass, you receive the diploma in digital form, sent by email with the results certificate and downloadable from your private area. The official FAQ states that DELE diplomas have indefinite validity.
