YOUR PREPARATION PRIORITIES

PUT YOUR LEARNING IN CONTEXTTurn a question into a clear next step.AI-generated illustration
01

Reading and Writing: use the text

Identify the claim, transition or grammatical relationship the question needs. Prefer the option supported by the actual context.

02

Math: choose the representation

Decide whether an equation, graph, table or quick numerical check makes the relationship easiest to solve.

03

Review at the right level

Group errors by skill rather than only by test date. Revisit the underlying pattern before attempting another timed set.

YOUR PRACTICE ROUTINE

Turn the next step into a habit.

  1. 01

    Establish your starting point

Start with a small selection of Reading and Writing and Math questions. Categorise an error by the skill or relationship it tests, rather than only by the question number.

  2. 02

    Practise the difficult distinction

Practise choosing a representation: textual evidence for a language question, or an equation, graph or table for a mathematical relationship.

  3. 03

    Review before repeating

Review timed practice by the step that changed the answer. Revisit the same skill in a different context and check that you can recognise it independently.

YOUR NEXT STEP

Start with a clear purpose.

Build a preparation routine for SAT. Use focused practice, explanations and the AI tutor to understand what needs your attention next.

  1. Question 1 · medium · Which Data Point Supports A Claim

A consumer group surveyed the average battery life of four wireless earbud models in hours of continuous use: Model | Battery Life (hours) AirSound | 6.5 EchoBuds | 9.0 ClearTone | 7.2 PulseFit | 5.8 A reviewer argues that EchoBuds offer the longest continuous playback time among the four models tested. Which data point best supports the reviewer's argument?

    • PulseFit lasts 5.8 hours, the shortest of the four models.
    • EchoBuds last 9.0 hours, longer than any other model in the table.
    • ClearTone lasts 7.2 hours, longer than AirSound.
    • AirSound and ClearTone both last between 6 and 8 hours.

    • An observational study that can establish causation between desk type and back pain.
    • An experiment that can support a causal conclusion about desk type and back pain for employees similar to those in the study.
    • An experiment whose results can be generalized to all adults worldwide.
    • A survey that can only show association between desk type and back pain.

SAT: common questions

How long is the digital SAT and how many questions does it have?

98 questions in 2 hours 14 minutes: Reading and Writing has 54 questions in 64 minutes across two 32-minute modules, and Math has 44 questions in 70 minutes across two 35-minute modules, with a 10-minute break between the sections. Most questions are multiple choice; some Math questions ask you to type the answer.

How does the adaptive SAT work?

Each section has two equal-length modules. Your performance on the first module decides whether the second module is more or less difficult, which is why two students can see different questions and why the first module matters so much. The College Board describes this as multistage adaptive testing within each section.

What is the SAT scored out of?

The total score runs from 400 to 1600 and is the sum of two section scores, Reading and Writing and Math, each reported on a 200 to 800 scale. There is no essay and no separate subscores are needed for admission decisions; colleges publish their own middle-50-per-cent ranges.

When can I take the SAT in 2026–27?

The College Board lists 22 August, 12 September, 3 October, 7 November and 5 December 2026, then 6 March, 1 May and 5 June 2027. Registration closes roughly two weeks before each date and changes or cancellations a few days later; these dates and deadlines apply to both US and international students.

How much does the SAT cost for an international student?

US$111: the US$68 registration fee plus a US$43 international fee, for tests through June 2027. Late registration adds US$38, a test-centre change or standard cancellation costs US$34 (US$44 for late cancellation), and each additional score report is US$15. Check the fee page at booking because the schedule is updated each school year.
