About the exam

What the DELF B2 French asks of you

The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française) is the official French-language certification issued by France's Ministry of Education through France Éducation international. The B2 level certifies an upper-intermediate command of French: the ability to argue a point of view, understand complex texts and audio, and produce clear, detailed writing on a wide range of subjects. The diploma is recognised worldwide by universities, employers and immigration authorities, and never expires.

All four DELF B2 skills in the current formats: Compréhension de l'oral (~3 audio documents, all QCM, ~30 min, some documents played twice), Compréhension des écrits (informative and argumentative texts, all QCM, 60 min), Production écrite (one argued prise de position of about 250 words, 60 min) and Production orale (a monologue defending a viewpoint plus a debate with the examiner, ~20 min after 30 min preparation).

Who sits the DELF B2 French

  • Learners who want an internationally recognised proof of upper-intermediate French for university or work.
  • Professionals needing B2 French for jobs in France, francophone countries or French-speaking roles.
  • Applicants using DELF toward French residency, study or immigration requirements.
  • Canada-bound francophiles and students bridging from B1 toward the DALF C1/C2 diplomas.

How people prepare for it

  1. 1Diagnose each of the four skills first — you must reach at least 5/25 in every skill, so a single weak skill can fail you.
  2. 2Train listening on the two document types: short documents played once (fast note-taking) and one long document played twice (interview, programme, conference).
  3. 3Drill reading as pure QCM on both an informative text and an argumentative press text; practise eliminating close distractors.
  4. 4Write timed ~250-word argued prises de position; focus on thesis, structured arguments, concession, connecteurs and formal register.
  5. 5Rehearse the speaking monologue with the 30-minute prep constraint, then practise defending your viewpoint in the examiner debate.

How this mirrors the real format

  • The paper structure is the real format: 4 sections in exam order, 39 questions in total.
  • Timing is server-controlled for the full 3 hr 6 min -- closing the tab does not pause the clock, exactly like our paid mock series.
  • Marking follows the published paper: the per-section marks shown in the paper map are the marks the scorer applies.
  • Sections run strictly in order and a completed section cannot be reopened.
  • Break windows fall where the paper schedules them, and each one is shown in the paper map.

"Real format" means the paper shape, timing, marking and navigation above - not the official exam software, its visual identity, or any affiliation with the exam body.
