ETS prices the TOEFL iBT itself by testing location, and shows that fee only after you choose where you will test. Everything around the test fee — express registration, rescheduling, extra score reports, score reviews — is priced in US dollars on one ETS page, and the rules on cancelling and refunds for candidates in India are written into ETS's India bulletin. The test fee
ETS's fee page asks you to select your testing location to view the registration fee. With India selected, it shows:

ETS notes that TOEFL iBT prices exclude VAT or other applicable taxes (except in EU countries), so the amount charged at checkout in India is that figure plus the tax that applies. The fee is set per testing location and can change; the location selector on ETS's fee page and your ETS account show the current amount.
What the other services cost
ETS's fee table lists these, in US dollars:
- Express registration (within 7 days of the test date) — US$49
- Rescheduling — US$69
- Reinstatement of cancelled scores — US$20
- Additional score reports (per institution or agency) — US$29 each
- Speaking or Writing section score review — US$80
- Speaking and Writing section score review — US$160
- Returned payment — US$30

ETS notes that these prices exclude VAT or other applicable taxes, except in EU countries. Candidates in India should expect tax to appear at checkout; the India bulletin says consumption taxes are added to the order at the applicable rate.
Registration deadlines
From the India bulletin:
- Regular online registration closes 7 full days before the test date. After that you pay the express fee.
- Express online registration closes 2 days before the test date. ETS's example: for a Saturday test, the last day to register is Thursday.
- Register with the name exactly as it appears on your ID. For a test centre or the Home Edition in India, a passport is the only acceptable primary ID.
- Your ETS account and your test registration are not transferable to anyone else.
Cancelling and rescheduling
The rule in the India bulletin has one cut-off:
- Reschedule or cancel at least 4 full days before your test date. ETS's example: for a Saturday test, the deadline is Tuesday.
- Cancel by that deadline and you automatically receive 50% of the test fee you paid, refunded to the original payment method in the currency you paid in. Cash refunds are not available.
- Miss the deadline and the test fee is not refunded.
- Changes are made only through the online registration system — not by email, post or at the test centre.
- No refund is given if you did not follow registration procedures or did not bring the required ID.
Rescheduling within the deadline carries the US$69 fee above. If ETS itself cancels or reschedules a session for reasons beyond its control, you are not charged the rescheduling fee and can rebook free or take a full refund.
Score reports
Your test fee includes, per the India bulletin:
- your scores in your ETS account, and a downloadable PDF of your test taker score report;
- your MyBest scores — your best score in each section from all valid tests in the last two years;
- up to 4 score reports sent to institutions you name by 10 pm local test-centre time on the day before your test. Add or change recipients after that and each report costs a fee (US$29 each, per ETS's fee table).
Once ordered, additional score reports cannot be changed or refunded.
Results, cancelling your scores, and validity
- Score posting: for tests taken on or after 21 January 2026, scores are posted to your ETS account approximately 3 days after the test.
- Cancelling your scores: at the end of the test you choose whether to report or cancel your scores, and cancelling applies to all sections. Cancelled scores are not refunded, but can be reinstated within 60 days of the test for the reinstatement fee, with scores reported about three weeks after the request.
- Validity: TOEFL scores are valid for two years after the test date.
Retaking
There is no limit on the number of times you can take the TOEFL iBT, but not more than once in any 3-day period — even if you cancelled your scores from the earlier test. You cannot hold a second appointment within 3 days of an existing one.
