CELPIP is one of the cheaper high-stakes English tests to sit, and the most common expensive mistake is not the fee — it is booking the wrong edition for the purpose, or booking a result that will have aged out by the time an application is assessed. This page sets out the published fees, the edition rule, the registration sequence and the timing facts that decide whether a result is usable, alongside the Myndaq CELPIP course. The published fees
The provider's format page lists two prices, both in Canadian dollars and both before tax:
- CELPIP-General — CAD 295 + taxes
- CELPIP-General LS — CAD 199 + taxes
The same page states, in as many words, that this is the Canadian price and that international pricing will vary. So a candidate booking in India, the UAE or the Philippines should expect a figure in the local currency shown during registration, not a conversion of CAD 295. Do not budget from a coaching centre's quoted rupee or dirham price — read the fee at the payment step of the booking itself, which is the only place the provider states it for your location.
Two things follow. The LS edition costs roughly two-thirds of the General edition, which is a saving only if LS is what your programme accepts. And "plus taxes" means the amount charged in Canada exceeds the list price by the applicable sales tax of the province where you test.
Which edition to book
- CELPIP-General — four components (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking), under 2 hours and 50 minutes, one sitting. This is the edition for permanent residence applications, for professional designation, and for universities.
- CELPIP-General LS — two components (Listening and Speaking), approximately 70 minutes, one sitting. This is the edition accepted for citizenship applications.
The edition is dictated by the receiving programme. An LS result cannot be used where four skills are required, and paying for General when LS is accepted is money spent on two components nobody will read. IRCC publishes which test and edition each programme accepts; check that page for your programme and application stage before you book, and again before you submit.
The registration sequence
Everything runs through a CELPIP account on the provider's site, and the steps have to happen in order:
- Create an account in the exact name on the identification you will bring, since the name on the account, the booking and the ID must match.
- Choose the edition — General or General LS — based on the programme rule above.
- Choose a country, city and test centre. The test is delivered at approved centres in Canada and in a set of other countries; the provider's country pages list where it is currently offered and load the available sittings. Availability outside Canada is narrower and changes, so treat a centre list you read elsewhere as a hint, not a fact.
- Pick a date and pay. The fee shown at this step is the one that applies to you.
The provider publishes its rescheduling and cancellation terms in the registration conditions you accept when booking. The figures depend on how much notice you give and are not reproduced here; read them before paying, because the cheapest way to change a booking is to know the deadline before you need it.
When results arrive
Scores are normally posted online to your CELPIP account in two to four business days after the test date, and the official score report is then downloadable as a PDF from the account. Plan around the later end of that range, not the earlier: a candidate who books a test four days before an application deadline is relying on the best case.
How long a result stands — three separate clocks
This is where applications go wrong, and it is worth stating the three rules separately because they are set by three different parties.
- The provider's validity: results are valid for two years from the date the score report is issued.
- The programme's age-of-result rule: IRCC and other receiving bodies set their own rule on how recent a result must be at a given stage of the application, and it can be tested more than once — at submission and again at a later stage.
- The date the rule is tested: a result that was within the programme's window when you were invited to apply may not be when the application is assessed.
A result that satisfies the first clock can still fail the second, so read the receiving programme's language-test page for the stage you are at, not only the provider's two-year statement.
Re-evaluation
If you believe a component has been under-rated you can apply for re-evaluation of that component within six months of the test date. There is a fee per component, and it is refunded if the level improves. Because Listening and Reading are computer-marked and Writing and Speaking are human-rated, re-evaluation is most often used for the two productive components; the provider's results page carries the current terms.
What is not on the provider's pages
The provider does not publish a country-by-country fee table — the international price appears at booking — and it does not publish a pass mark, because the level a candidate needs is set by the programme. Any page that quotes a single worldwide CELPIP fee in a currency other than CAD, or a "passing score", is stating something the provider does not.
