French · for English speakers

Make French patterns easier to recognise.

01

Learn a noun with its article

Notice the article beside a French noun in the lesson. Keep the phrase together in your notes so you practise how the words work together.

02

Listen beyond individual words

Compare the sentence you hear with its written form. Say the complete phrase, then repeat it with a small change rather than learning isolated spellings.

03

Build a useful response

After completing an exercise, adapt the sentence to an introduction, a request or an everyday plan. Keep the purpose clear while checking the word order.

How it works

A language grows through use.

A lesson is a useful beginning. The next step is making the language work in a situation you recognise: introducing yourself, asking for help, understanding a message or explaining a plan. Use short practice sessions to build those connections deliberately.

  1. 01

    Start with the meaning

Before arranging the words, decide what the sentence needs to communicate. Notice who is doing the action, when it happens and how the ideas connect. After checking the answer, say the complete sentence aloud.

  2. 02

    Listen, then reconstruct

Listen for the overall message first. On another attempt, focus on the words you missed or confused. Build the sentence again and compare the sound with its written form; this connects listening to spelling and vocabulary.

  3. 03

    Ask a specific question

Use the tutor to understand one point: a word choice, a grammatical relationship or why an alternative does not fit. Then use the same pattern in a new sentence. An explanation becomes useful when you apply it.

How it works

Make the next session easier to begin.

01

Keep a small phrase collection

Save useful phrases in your own study notes, with the situation in which you would use them. A phrase tied to a purpose is easier to revisit than an isolated word.

02

Repeat with a small change

After a lesson, change the subject, place or time in one sentence. This checks whether you understand the structure instead of remembering only the original order.

03

Build a routine you can sustain

Choose a regular moment for practice. Begin by reviewing one recent mistake, work through the lesson and finish by saying or writing a sentence of your own.

04

Use the level as a guide

CEFR levels describe a progression in language ability. They can help you choose a starting point, but completing a course activity is not an official certificate or a guarantee of exam performance.
