OET is priced as one product across its three delivery modes, and the provider's rules on cancelling, rescheduling and re-marking are written into a single Test Regulations document rather than scattered across the site. This page sets out the fee, the booking boundaries, and the charges that apply when something changes, with figures taken from the provider's own pages, alongside the Myndaq OET course. What the test costs
The provider's pages state one test fee for the full test of four sub-tests, and it is the same in all three delivery modes:
- OET Test on Paper — AUD 587
- OET Test on Computer at a venue — AUD 587
- OET@Home — AUD 587
Fees are paid at the time of booking. The figure above is what the provider's site displays with its default "International / AUD" setting; the site has a currency selector, and what you are charged in your local currency is shown in the booking flow. Treat AUD 587 as the reference price and confirm the local figure before you pay.
The fee is per full test. If you later need to re-sit only one or more sub-tests, that is booked and priced separately — and only after a complete first sitting, as explained below.
Who can sit, and the first-sitting rule
OET is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to register and practise in an English-speaking environment, and it is tailored to twelve professions: Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Dietetics, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Radiology, Occupational Therapy, Veterinary Science, Optometry and Speech Pathology. All twelve can sit the Computer and @Home modes. The Paper mode is offered for seven — Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Radiology and Veterinary Science — so a dietitian or optometrist books computer or home delivery.
Two conditions apply to everyone:
- All four sub-tests must be taken the first time you sit the test to receive results. You cannot book a single sub-test as your first attempt.
- Candidates may be asked for proof of residency in the country where they sit, and the provider does not offer testing to, or accept payment from, candidates residing in sanctioned countries.
After a complete first sitting you may book one or more additional sub-tests. The provider's own advice is to check first whether the organisation you are applying to accepts single sub-test scores, and whether it allows "clubbing" — combining scores from tests taken on different dates. Both are decisions of the recognising organisation, not of OET. Single sub-test re-sits without booking all four are stated to apply to the Paper mode.
Booking deadlines by mode
- OET Test on Paper: bookings close 24 days before the test, and the provider marks this as subject to change.
- OET Test on Computer and OET@Home: bookings close 7 days before the test date, at 11:59 PM UTC.
The @Home mode has an extra condition: it is for candidates with no venue available for the Paper or Computer test, or who are approved under exceptional circumstances, and the provider warns that it may not be accepted by every recognising organisation in every country. Check acceptance before booking it.
ID rules that decide whether you sit
The ID you use to book must match the ID you present on test day, and incorrect or alternative documents are not accepted at check-in.
- Paper: a valid passport or a valid national ID — a single government-issued document from the country where you are sitting, carrying your full name, photograph and date of birth on the one document. Driving licences are excluded.
- Computer and @Home: the same, with the added requirement that a national ID must be in English lettering.
- UK refugee or asylum status: a Biometric Residence Permit, Application Registration Card, or a UK Home Office travel document.
If ID requirements are not met, the provider reserves the right to withhold or cancel results, and gives you five calendar days from being contacted to supply the required document.
Cancellation
For the Computer and @Home modes the cancellation fee depends on when you cancel:
- Before the Listening/Reading/Writing booking closing date (in your local time zone): AUD 120 cancellation fee.
- After booking has closed and up to 48 hours before your test start time: AUD 200 cancellation fee.
- Once you have completed one of the sub-tests of that administration, you cannot cancel at all.
For the Paper mode you can cancel up to one week before the test day, subject to conditions and fees set out in the regulations' table; if your test is on a Friday, no refund is given for a cancellation made after 11:59 PM local time on the Saturday before.
Rescheduling
You can reschedule a booked test to another date, subject to conditions and fees in the regulations, with four limits worth knowing before you book:
- You cannot reschedule to change the delivery mode — a Paper booking cannot become a Computer booking.
- You cannot reschedule to change the profession you booked for.
- Bookings made with a discount code or at a discounted price cannot be rescheduled.
- The Speaking sub-test can be rescheduled only once, and a late reschedule of Speaking on the Computer test carries a fee of AUD 100.
When results come, and what they contain
You receive a Statement of Results with a score from 0 to 500 for each sub-test; no overall grade is issued. Indicative release times differ by mode: the Computer and @Home results can be available within 48 hours of completing all four sub-tests, with the provider aiming to release within six calendar days and stating that 95% are released within that window. Paper results are stated as from 13 days after the test date for most regions, and in as little as five days for candidates tested in India and six for the Philippines. The regulations give a general figure of approximately 12 business days. All of these are indicative, results may be released earlier, and timing can stretch around public holidays.
If you fail to check in and attempt a sub-test you are marked absent for it and receive a zero, shown as a blank on the Statement; if you attempt none of the four you receive no Statement at all. Results can be withheld for rescheduled tests, malpractice, ID discrepancies and technical issues. How long a result stays valid is set by each recognising organisation, not by OET.
Re-marking and appeals
- A re-mark can be requested within 72 hours of results release; later requests are not accepted.
- The fee is AUD 120 per sub-test, reimbursed if the grade changes.
- Outcomes take three to six weeks and can be an increase, a decrease, or no change.
- An appeal against the re-marking outcome costs AUD 120 per stage (Stage 1 and Stage 2), refunded in full if the sub-test grade changes. Stage 1 decisions on re-marking appeals are stated at eight weeks from submission; malpractice and complaint appeals at three weeks.
For a sense of how much a re-mark could move, remember that scores step in tens and grade B spans 350–440 — a candidate at 340 is one step from B, a candidate at 300 is five.
